Halston Perfume and Cologne

Roy Halston Frowick founded the Halston fashion house in the 1970s, but his love for fashion began long before then. As a child, Halston grew interested in sewing and began making hats and altering his mother's clothing. Halston received the opportunity to follow his passion after a story in the Chicago Daily News described his hats, prompting him to open his own shop in 1957. Later that year, he moved to New York, and within a year, became co-designer at Dach. He eventually left Dach to become head designer for department store Bergdorf Goodman. News of Halston's premiere fashion spread, leading numerous celebrities, such as Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor, Bianca Jagger and Anjelica Huston, to wear his creations. He did not, however, limit himself to the wealthy. His designs were available for women at all income levels, a controversial move at the time. Halston set out to influence not just fashion design itself, but the fashion business, as well. In 1974, Halston created his own brand. His first self-titled perfume, Halston, was released in 1974 and sold in a bottle designed by Elsa Peretti. Halston Classic, the first women's perfume under Halston's brand name, was released the following year. A men's fragrance, Halston 1-12, was launched in 1976. Other notable fragrances for the brand include Unbound, released in the year of Halston's death, as well as Catalyst, released for women and men in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
